Sunyani April 7, GNA - The Police have arrested and placed in custody Kwame Boakye, a 36-year-old electrician, for inflicting cutlass wounds on his neighbour, one Victor Owusu Sekyere, at Chiraa in the Brong Ahafo.
Chief Inspector Christopher Tawiah, Regional Police Public Relations officer, told the Ghana News Agency in Sunyani that Victor had for a long time been complaining to people that Boakye had allegedly collected his money to extend electricity to his house but had failed to do so.
He said Boakye became offended when his wife demanded to know the truth about the matter and on March 14, this year the accused armed himself with a knife and went to Victor's home where he engaged him in a fight and in the process slashed his back.
Victor who sensed danger took to his heels and shouted for help but the accused chased him and inflicted more wounds on him.
Chief inspector Tawiah said the wife of the accused run to report to the police who rushed to the scene and met Victor and Boakye on the ground struggling over the knife, with their bodies stained with blood. He said police separated them and rushed Victor to hospital for treatment and effected the arrest of Boakye.
