... OVER DIVESTITURE OF GFIC

The Former Minister for National Security, Mr Kofi Totobi Quakyi, and the Former Minister for Finance, Mr Kwame Peprah, will be arraigned before an Accra Fast Track High Court next week to answer charges of causing financial loss to the state.

The two Former Ministers were charged with the crime following their role in the divestiture of the Ghana Film Industry Corporation (GFIC) to TV3 Malaysia.

The Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Mr Ayikoi Otoo, confirmed the charges against the two but declined to give details on the specific roles they played in the divestiture process.

He disclosed that the police were taking statements from Mr Peprah, while Mr Totobi Quakyi was out of the country on medical grounds, adding that “his absence will not stop anything.”

In the year 2001, the Government set up a committee to investigate the divestiture of the GFIC and the ownership of TV3
