The CEO of the Public Sector Reforms Secretariat, Mr Thomas Kusi-Boafo, says that President Akufo-Addo’s Planting for Food and Jobs initiative was rolled out three years ago has yielded fruitful results.
According to him,the agricultural sector will witness a positive change in 2020 with President Akufo-Addo.
He also indicated that,” there has been a positive change in Ghanaians as it is evident in their high demand of local produce, as well as their zeal in pushing the government’s 1District, 1Factory from all angles,”Thomas Kusi Boafo told Lawyer Ohene Gyan on ‘Pae Mu Ka’ on Kumasi-based Kingdom FM 101.1
He said an objective assessment of the campaign for PFJ reveals increased adoption of certified seeds, increased participation of private seeds companies and locally produced seeds and increased production of some maize,and rice.
However, he rolled out that government’s flagship Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ) programme has seen tremendous improvement in the sector with the country said to be exporting excess produce to neighbouring countries in the West African subregion.
The Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ) program is a Government of Ghana designed and implemented program within a five year period aim at promoting growth in food production and create jobs across the country.
He praised the Akufo-Addo government for the brave and bold initiative to expand agriculture, link agriculture to manufacturing under the IDIF program and also create jobs for the teeming youth.
