DEC 26, 2019 LISTEN

MTN Ghana has today December 26, 2019, distributed hampers to babies born during the Christmas period in selected hospitals across the country.

The gesture was first introduced by the network providers in 2011 and has since become an annual activity that is done to congratulate and surprise mothers who give birth during the yuletide season.

This year, MTN continued as they expressed love through giving as demanded by the festive season in celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.

In all, 250 hampers have been distributed to mothers and newborn babies in selected hospitals in the various major cities of the country. In the Greater Accra Region, the Ashaiman Polyclinic and the Tema General Hospital benefited from the gesture with as many as 50 mothers receiving baby hampers.

According to Madam Janet Quarshie, a senior manager for branch network service at MTN, the motive behind the gesture is to put smiles on the faces of customers to ensure they brighten and wish them a Y’ello Christmas.

“At MTN we want to make our customers and the people who uses our services, their lives brighter. It is Christmas and we are spreading the love and joy in the festive season”, she stressed.

At the end of the hamper distribution at the Ashaiman Polyclinic, Madam Eunice Amlanu who is a senior medical officer at the health facility lauded MTN Ghana on behalf of the hospital and all the mothers.

She further pleaded with the telecom giant to help expand their maternity ward while citing that the deliveries at the facility keep going up and sometimes leave the place congested.

“We have realized that our deliveries are going high and the space too is not enough so if MTN can come to our aid and expand the place for us or better still build an ultramodern maternity ward for us to improve our service delivery. They should keep up with this initiative. Not only with Ashaiman Polyclinic but other Polyclinics. Next year they should do it bigger and extend to other facilities”, Madam Eunice Amlanu said.

Elsewhere at the Tema General Hospital, the medical officer in charge of caesarian session, Mrs. Evelyn Sorkbor praised MTN for continuously proving them with the support to make the services they provide go easy and smooth.

She noted0p, “MTN, in fact, they are doing a lot for Tema General Hospital Maternity as a whole. They came out and built this beautiful edifice for us and they still come on a routine basis to check on us. They enquire about the things that we want so that they can be able to give to us.

“Today being December 26, they have come to show love to the mothers that have delivered. They have given them hampers and we say God bless them and we pray that they do more for Tema General Hospital”.
