Ghanaian spoken word artist IM Saani has expressed concerns over the low interest in poetry and its related talents in the country.
IM Saani, states, a developmental art such as poetry shouldn't have a low interest. He attributed the low interest to what he termed as "carry away by beats"
"Sadly these days, most people do not pay heed to the lyrics, they are carried away mostly by beats. Poetry is growing in the Ghanaian society but much needs to be done." The Ehalakasa 2017 champion indicates.
The originally trained nutritionist argued, Poetry, unlike Music, has the ability to influence one's behaviour.
"I believe in the power of words to influence behaviour change. Good words makes the greatest impact. And poetry provides just that."
IM Saani was speaking ahead of the Inspirational poetry show set to be held, Thursday, December 26 2019 at the Picorna Hotel, Tamale.
The Inspirational poetry show is a spectacular event to inspire, educate, entertain and combat injustice using the art of spoken word poetry, comedy, and stage play.
This year, the poets are set to whet the appetite of the patrons as their performances will be on some pressing societal issues.
