The Cantonments Police in Accra has picked up one Edward Sena at Pokuase for allegedly stealing cars from commercial drivers after drugging them.

The suspect on Saturday stole a car; two Samsung Phones and GHS 300 from a driver, when he invited him to Purple Pub, only to give him a drink that left his victim unconscious.

Speaking to Citi News, the Public Affairs Head of the Greater Accra Police Command, DSP Afia Tenge, said her outfit is inviting victims of such this crime to the Cantonments Police Station to identify the suspect.

A police communique sighted by Citi News noted that on the Saturday, December 14 at about 11:00 pm, “a victim in a state of drowsiness came to the cantonments police and reported that someone hired his services from Nkrumah circle to Airport but on reaching Danquah Circle, the client invited the driver to have a drink with him while they wait for a flight to arrive at airport.”

“That the client served him with a fruit juice at Purple Pub which he lost consciousness after taking the drink. When he regained consciousness the client had stolen his Uber car together with his two Samsung phones and cash of GHS 300.”

But the stolen vehicle had a tracking device and was traced to Pokuase “and with the assistance of the police information room and the patrol teams, the vehicle together with the suspect Edward Sena was arrested.”

The suspect had changed the registration plate and when he was searched, one of the mobile phones of the complainant was found in the room.

Police also noted that “another victim has come to identify him as the same suspect who stole his car under the same modus on May 10, 2019, at Nungua.”
