MTN is sponsoring the construction of a six-unit classroom block for the Adugyama Senior High School.
The project which is expected to be completed by February 2020 also has a staff common room, store, and washrooms.
The GH500,000 cedi project according to Acting General Manager, MTN Northern Business District Mr. Simon Amoh was considered upon an appeal made by the school’s authorities.
During an inspection tour of the project, Mr. Amoh noted that the company has not and will not renege on its educational pillar in the MTN Foundation and will continue to help when and where necessary.
“The school requested a dormitory and a classroom block but we decided to first give them a classroom block because we want them to be comfortable and have sound mind during studies”. He said.
The Senior High School is one of the beneficiaries of the E-blocks constructed for some Senior High Schools by the previous government to be used as day schools.
However the free Senior High education policy rolled out by the current administration has led to serious congestion in the school, hence the need for additional classrooms.
“The construction of the new classroom block by MTN is very timely and we are grateful to them”. One of the students told this reporter.
