The Legon Police has arrested and detained the queen mother of Larteh Akuapem LadyImage Tamara Botsio and four others for allegedly destroying properties belonging to Empire Builder, a subsidiary of Trassaco Construction Company Limited at Adjiringanor, near East Legon in Accra. The police are making necessary arrangements to process the suspects for court soon. Some workers at the construction site described the demolition exercise as illegal saying no prior notice was served on them. The entire structure would have been pulled down had it not been for the timely intervention of the police officers. According to the Daily Guide, the Chief security officer at the site, George Akakpoh said Lady Tamara led a group of young men and others manning excavators and bulldozers to the site to raze down the property because that portion of the land belonged to her.

“I quickly called the Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, Douglas Asiedu Akrofi and informed him about what was happening. I also informed my employers about it, Mr Akakpoh said. According to Mr Akakpoh soon after the demolition had begun a team of police officers arrived at the scene and arrested the suspects. He said he lodged a complaint at the East Legon Police station.

Managing Director of Trassaco Valley, Ernesto Tariconi expressed shock at the action of Lady Tamara. “ Frankly speaking this lady's action is worrying. She approached me about two weeks ago and told me bluntly that portions of my property belonged to her. She claimed to have bought it from a Madam Vivian Acheampong several years back,” Mr Tariconi said. He said he asked her to present necessary document on the land she was claiming to have bought from Vivian. Mr Tariconi said Lady Tamara went away and failed to produce the documents. “She went away and never came back and now this is the result of her action, the destruction of portions of my property,” he said.
