Accra, March 21, GNA - The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Danny Annan has assured party supporters not to panic, but remain clam following the recent resignations that has hit the party. They should continue to give their support to ensure victory come 2008, he said and dismissed as unfounded and frivolous, speculations that those resignations would affect the future of the party or lead to its disintegration. "Rather it will strengthen its support base and make it stronger,"

Mr Annan said when he spoke to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview at the weekend. He expressed surprise that many of those who had resigned described the NDC as "violence and undemocratic". The Regional Chairman said: "We have embarked on an outreach programme throughout and we realised that their desperate decisions would not in anyway affect the party in the region at all."

On the Representation of the People (Amendment) Act (ROPAA), Mr Annan said; "Anyone who is desperate takes a desperate decision without thinking of the effects it would have on the society in future." He asked; "If the President could assent a bill into law without going through in less than 48 hours after its passage, it clearly shows how desperate the NPP is." He said the NPP was determined to remain in power at all cost, but would see the feelings of the people through the ballot box come 2008.
