Tema, March 21, GNA - Two persons believed to be operating a mobile phone stealing syndicate in Tema Manhean was on Monday sentenced to eighteen months imprisonment each by the Tema Circuit 'B' court. The two persons Kwabena Armah, 19 years, a fish packer and Salah Mensah, 18, who claimed to be a footballer, were convicted on their own plea.

Police Chief Inspector Daniel Martey told the court that in January Augustine Musah, the complainant, met the two convicts at the fishing harbour and left his phone with the accused persons to attend to a friend but when he returned the two had left.

On March 14 the convicts offered the phone to the complainant's brother for sale but he informed his brother and a report was made to the police. When they were searched two additional phones and four phone chips were found on them.

Investigation showed that the owners of the chips lost their phones between January and March at Tema Manhean.
