Three siblings drown in Volta Lake

Ho, March 20, GNA-Three siblings drowned when the boat carrying them across the Volta Lake to Kete-Krachi capsized in a storm. Mr Emmanuel Kweinoo, the father of the dead children who was rowing the boat however swam to safety and reported to the Police. The dead children are Abba-Yaa Kweinoo, 6, Ayedi Kweinoo, 4 and Edumase Kweinoo 2.

Mr Joy Afagbedzi, Volta Regional Police Public Relations Officer told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview on Monday that the incident happened on Wednesday, March 1 at around 1645 hours, while Mr Kweinoo and his three children were travelling from Wrutor a fishing village to Kete-Krachi.

He said the bodies of Ayedi and Edumase had been found and deposited at the Kete-Krachi Government Hospital Mortuary for autopsy while that of Abba-Yaa was still being sought. He conveyed a caution from the Regional Command of the Police to fishermen and all travellers on the Lake to be abreast with the weather before setting on their journeys to avoid such occurrences.
