Group Laments Heightened Insecurity In Hon. George Andah's Constituency

PRESS CONFERENCE TO BE ADDRESSED BY COMRADE KWEKU AMPONG (COMMUNICATION OFFICER) ON HEIGHTENED INSECURITY IN AWUTU SENYA WEST CONSTITUENCY UNDER THE WATCH OF HON. GEORGE ANDAH AND HON. STEPHEN QUAYE

Good morning ladies and gentlemen from the press. I welcome you to the maiden edition of The Bare Facts Press Encounter under the auspices of Awutu Senya West NDC, and I take this opportunity to thank you all for honoring our invitation despite this short notice.

Ladies and gentlemen from the press, this encounter is to bring to your attention the reeling levels of insecurity and the freaky risen security crises we find ourselves as a Constituency stemming from sheer irresponsibility, callousness and gross incompetence on the part of our Member of Parliament Hon. George Andah and The District Chief Executive, Hon. Stephen Quaye who is also the Chairman of the District Security Council. Recently, our peaceful Constituency has witnessed heightened levels of insecurity with rampant and constant attacks on innocent citizens in different parts of the Constituency in different forms and shapes which never existed. unpleasantly, arms wielding robbery which was not accustomed and not habituated to our land and blazing of firearms on innocent citizens in broad daylight in rambo style uncharacteristic of our Constituency is gaining notoriety and ill fame.

Ladies and gentlemen from the press as we speak now there is no single week without reports of armed robbery attack in the Constituency, so regrettable. This phenomenon of constant attack by robbers and miscreants keep dear life's of innocent citizens in danger. Few days ago, a formal complaint was lodged at the Bawjiase Police Station about incident of burglary, where a whole house was arbitrarily scattered and robbed off belongings worth thousands of Ghana cedis. This is a general reflection of what is happening in the Constituency. A canker which did not exist and Both Hon. George Andah and Stephen Quaye are unable to do anything so the condition keeps maturating with ease.

We have instances of vehicle stolen at gunpoint which were unusual in the Constituency thus making life unsafe and precarious. There was an incident of a man dastardly butchered to death at Kwabonzie. such a bizarre spectacle for eyes to behold. The sequence of attacks visited on citizens is attributable to incompetence of Hon. Stephen Quaye and neglect of Constituents by Hon. George Andah over sensitive issue such as security. Criminals have taken over our dear constituency tormenting our women with impunity. Had it not been the break down of leadership of Hon. George Andah our Member of Parliament and Hon. Stephen Quaye, the Chairman of District Security Council, these criminals would not be emboldened to perpetrate such crimes on innocent citizens.

ladies and gentlemen, apart from last week robbery attack around Bonsuoku where a teacher on a bus from kasoa to Senya was attacked with knife and robbed sustaining serious degree of injuries with blood spilling all over his body, just yesterday another teacher was shot in the arm and hospitalized. Consistently, these happenings has put fear in commuters. These drivers and passengers who have come under severe and frequent attacks by armed robbers is also because of the deplorable, bumpy and lamentable nature of the road connecting Akoti to Senya. The bad nature of the road causing slow paced movements and jolting ride of vehicles carrying commuters, mostly market women and businessmen who trade at Kasoa on market days and come back to their homes in Senya.

Ladies and gentlemen, the constant attack and highjacking of cars on that dangerous part from Akoti Junction to Senya calls for immediate security measure to curb the situation. ladies and gentlemen, we all know natives of Senya have historically prospered from fishing as their main source of livelihood. The men predominantly go fishing whereas the women take to the job of preparing and smoking variety of fishes for market. The people of Senya have done this for years without problems until the coming of NPP'S Hon. George Andah as Member of Parliament and Hon. Stephen Quaye as District Chief Executive.

ladies and gentlemen, the laziness and incompetence on their part has left our Constituents hopeless, despondent and insecure. our life's in the Constituency is not safe under Hon. We are indeed in security crises. The NDC in Awutu Senya West Constituency call on Hon. George Andah and Hon. Stephen Quaye to stop being self seeking, inward looking and think about the precious lives of the people of Awutu Senya West for once as they promised in 2016 electioneering on power to do more slogan, unfortunately, it has turned Power To Do Nothing. They should prioritize the security of the Constituency especially the Akoti Senya stretch and make provision for police patrols and visibility as a matter of urgency to restore security and sanity on the road.
