Winneba (C/R), March 18, GNA - The District Chief Executive for Awutu-Effutu-Senya, Mr Solomon Abam Quaye, has appealed to the police MTTU to intensify their operations to help reduce the rampant accidents on the Mankessim-Kasoa road. He pointed out that the increasing accident rate along the road, which has claimed many lives was unacceptable. He expressed regret about the accident, which occurred at Gomoa-Assin last Friday, which claimed twenty-four lives and injured many others and said that the heavy lost of lives on the road, should be stopped.

The DCE said this at the annual get together organized for the personnel of the Ghana Police Service in Winneba on Friday. He disclosed that information reaching the Assembly indicated that the Winneba-Yamoransa road ranked the first in fatal road accidents in the country and urged them to step up their operations. Mr Quaye commended the police personnel, who helped in the demolition of the Kasoa old market and the relocation exercise for exhibiting the highest sense of professionalism and urged them to maintain the spirit.

The District Police Commander, Mr Nicholas Gasu called on the personnel to observe the code of conduct of the profession to enable them discharge their duties efficiently. He advised them against manhandling of suspects and also against the miss-use of state apparatuses to archive their selfish aim.
