Juapong, March 16, GNA - A Fulani herdsman was shot dead and another wounded at Kluma near Juapong on March 1, this year. Lance Corporal Joy Afagbedzi, Volta Regional Police Public Relations Officer who disclosed this to the GNA at Juapong on Thursday said Alhaji Bube, the deceased and one Amadu, were travelling from Juapong to Agorhor when an unidentified person shot them from behind. He said the two received gunshot wounds but Amadu managed to reach Agorhor and called for assistance to his colleague.

Lance Corporal Afagbedzi said both of them were taken to Atua Government Hospital but Alhaji Bube was pronounced dead on arrival while Amadu was treated and discharged. He said a report was later made to the Juapong Police. The PRO said when the police visited the scene, they found a cap and a talisman and were told by some residents who visited the scene earlier that they found four spent shells.

Lance Corporal Afagbedzi appealed to people who visited crime scenes before the police not to destroy evidence that would assist the police in investigations. He said a post mortem report on the deceased gave the cause of death as penetration around the liver and the abdominal aorta due to gunshot. Lance Corporal Afagbedzi appealed to the public, especially residents of Kluma to volunteer information to enable the police apprehend perpetrators of the crime. He said the corpse had been released to the family for burial while investigations continued.
