Member of Parliament for Asawase constituency, Muntaka Mubarak is asking the whereabout of a sum of €37.5million contracted for the construction of roads within Kumasi and other parts of the Ashanti Region.

Mr Muntaka noted that Kumasi roads are now deplorable questioning the whereabout of the loan contracted by the erstwhile Mahama administration.

He said, former President John Dramani Mahama on February 26, 2019 contracted a loan sum of 37.5m euros from the French government to construct Kumasi roads and Aboabo Pelele drain in the Ashanti region.

According to him, the NPP government’s decision to construct an overhead in Accra and Tamale and other parts of the country but the stronghold of the party has been left out when funding has been secured is surprising.

He added that the loan was to construct roads from Tech to Adum, Suame roundabout to Tafo among others but is nowhere to be found under the Akufo Addo led government.

Speaking at a health walk organized by the NDC in the Asawase constituency, he stressed that the “NPP government has denied the Ashanti region which it describes as its strongest the national cake as far as development is concern.”

He challenged those who doubt the loan contract to make reference from the official report of parliament for February 26, 2016 column 1405 where debate and approval of the loan could be identified.
