About 980 girls from 14 districts in the Central region have been trained in basic ICT knowledge for the second edition of the Girls in ICT 2019.
The Communications Minister, Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, said the initiative was part of measures to bridge the gender gap existing in ICT.
“We will continue to champion the celebration of Girls-in-ICT initiative to whip up the interest of our daughters to enable them acquire ICT skills to enhance their opportunities as they develop careers in the ICT industry to make them competitive on the job market. We will hand over the baton from Central Region to Oti Region," she stated.
The sector minister added that the celebration in the Oti Region will be held in the 2nd Quarter of 2020. "We want Oti Region to make it even better than Central Region,” she intimated.
