Agriculture Minister, Afriyie Akoto Owusu has promised to produce the tape containing an alleged derogatory comment on northerners to the Overload of Gonja Yagbonwura Tuntumba Boresa I.
The minister assured the Overlord of Gonjaland that, he will send him a copy of the tape containing the interview regarding the said comments.
Pressure is been mounted on the Agricultural Minister, to apologize to northerners over an alleged derogatory comments made against them but has reluctantly declined.
Subsequently, several youth groups within the five Northern regions are now demanding for his resignation.
The Agriculture Minister Afriyie Akoto Osei, in an interview with a media outlet to laud the government described northerners as living in mud houses without a modernized roofing sheets, and motorbikes prior to the implementation of government’s flagship programme Planting for Food and Jobs and that the programme has uplifted their social and economic status.
The minister has re-stated his disassociation of the claim of insult on the people of the Northern region and has resorted to denial at every given opportunity, he said during an interaction with the overlord of the Gonja Kingdom, Yagbonwura Tuntumba Boresa I.
In an interaction with the Gonja Overlord, he described the campaign of his resignation as an ill-political motivation.
According to the minister, the allegation that he insulted northerner is a propaganda and a deliberate attempt by the opposition NDC to destroy the excellent initiatives the Akufo-Addo led administration has rolled out.
He claimed, it was rather an exhibition of the prosperity of the planting for food and jobs, impacted on the country including the Savannah region.
“These comments were directed to the savannah areas in the various regions in the country namely; Ashanti region, Bono East region, Savannah region and Upper West region,” he intimated.
