CDD Holds Capacity Building Workshop For Journalists Ahead Of 2020
NOV 6, 2019 GENERAL NEWS

The Ghana Center for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana), has organized a two-day capacity building training for Journalists as Ghana prepares for the general election next year.

The workshop was organized with support from Star-Ghana on November 4-5 and trained media persons on how to strengthen news coverage on public policy programs, public opinion surveys, good governance indices and the manifestos of political parties.

Speaking to Modernghana at the end of the two-day program in Accra, Dr. John Osae-Kwapong, a senior Research Associate at CDD who facilitated the training shared that: “After observing the media, reading the news, always following news around, policies, politics, key public opinion surveys, I believe that these are pieces of information that are very critical and very important to citizens”.

Dr. Osae-Kwapong is hoping the training will help journalists in their way of reporting to give the citizenry a better understanding of key policies.

“I believe that if you can strengthen the media’s capacity to be able to understand and then disseminate and then share these things with citizens you will improve the entire governance”, he said.

He continued, “So am just hoping that with this you will see even a much bigger improvement in the way news organizations handle these issues and you put them in a better where they are better able to inform citizens about these important matters”.
