A 14-year old boy on Thursday evening stabbed a 19-year old bicycle repairer to death at Pig Farm, a suburb of Accra.

The incident, which stunned the community, has resulted in the formation of a search party to look for the suspect, who is at large.

Narrating the incident to the Daily Graphic yesterday, a sister of the deceased, Dela Akontia, said the suspect frequently called the deceased “Mr Ibu”, a name which he (deceased) objected to as the suspect was not his peer and that he might end up losing his real name.

She said the suspect kept calling the deceased Mr Ibu anytime he saw him in the area and the deceased warned him to stop that behaviour.

She explained that on Thursday morning, the deceased confronted the suspect for calling him by the name “Mr Ibu” and this resulted in a fight.

Ms Akontia noted that while the deceased was strolling at about 7p.m. on the same day, the suspect emerged from a hideout and stabbed the deceased in the upper left side of the chest with a knife and took to his heels.

She said some by-standers, who saw the act, raised an alarm and rushed to the scene after seeing the deceased collapsing, adding that a pastor of a church, who heard the shouts of the by-standers ,came out only to see the deceased on the ground.

“The pastor then took my brother in his car to the 37 Military Hospital. It was while he was rushing my brother to the hospital that he died,” she stated.

Ms Akontia said the incident was subsequently reported to the Kotobabi police and they had begun investigations into the matter.

A police source confirmed the story and said they were looking for the suspect.
