The Gods of Politics

By Brian Kazungu
Poem The Gods of Politics
NOV 2, 2019 LISTEN

They may look and sound superior than you and me
But I have come to know they are not supreme
They may succeed to make us all say, Hail the King
But sooner or later, the world will see they are masters at faking

The gods of politics are all around
These gods of politics, in America they are found
These gods of politics in Africa they abound
The gods of politics, in Australia, Asia, and Europe they hunt

Never allow them to recruit you into fighting against God's army
Never sacrifice your soul unto them for their dime
For when they reign over you, they never want to resign
They will never even hear you, even if in pain you cry

They can't believe you can rise without dimming their shine
When you strike your own gold,
They think you have robbed them of the gains of their time
The success of another is unto them a tragedy that strikes without giving them a sign

Fame and gain is all what they want to add to their names
Divide and rule is how they rise using money and blame games
Human souls they seek to tame in order to increase their terms
But in the twinkling of an eye, the gods of politics shall succumb to shame
