SDG Youth Summit Launched

Reset Global has launched the maiden edition of the Global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Youth Summit in Ghana.

Ghana will be the first country to host the Summit.

The maiden edition of the Summit will focus on the youth and climate change.

It is scheduled to take place from 21st to 23rd November 23, 2019 at the bank of Ghana Auditorium, University of Ghana (UG).

Speaking at the launching ceremony held at the Presidential villa of the State Protocol on Wednesday, October 30, 2019, in Accra, Policy and Communication Lead at the SDGs’ Advisory Unit, Dr. Louise Donkor, mentioned that the Unit had extended support to some youth organizations that are engaged in SDGs related activities.

She seized the opportunity to formally announce the Africa Innovates for the SDGs Award in which five early social innovators would be awarded $10,000 each at the Africa Netpreneurship ceremony.

The awards ceremony is expected to have in attendance Jack Ma, the Chief Executive Officer of the Alibaba Group.

A representative of the Awake Movement in South Africa, Eashan Thakrar, indicated that the best way to genuinely achieve the Sustainable Development Goals was to create an authentic movement of young people.

“If we can get young people from all around the world to come together and put their minds towards achieving their goals then, we can really achieve them,” he stated.

According to Mr Thakrar, a platform had been created by Awake Movement where content is derived from music, short film, documentaries to create debate among young people.

Reset Global aims among other things, empowering and connecting the youth, young leaders and change makers in order to create a sustainable world.

Convenor of the Global SDGs Youth Summit, Kwame A.A Opoku, urged all media partners to push the SDGs agenda for the participation and involvement of all.
