Let Ghanaians Know That There Is Peace In Dagbon In Your Manifesto -Cti Northern Wing To Ndc
30.10.2019 LISTEN

After the 27th March, 2002 unfortunate incident which lead to the murder of the late Yaa Naa Yakubu Andani who was a member of the Andani Royal family and overlord of Dagbon Kingdom, the country witnessed so many political and traditional turmoils; regrettable happenings we pray we will not have them repeat again.

This incident happened a year after the H.E J A KUFUOR and H.E ALHAJI ALIU MAHAMA led NPP Government was sworn into office. The National Democratic Congress (NDC) then as the main opposition political party tried all their dubious means to affiliate this incident to politics and sink the New Patriotic Party (NPP) deeply into it which through that caused the NPP a lot of dissatisfaction among Ghanaians particularly those of the northern part of Ghana especially the Dagbons, and as a result reaped massive gains through that. Today the NDC has gained political support in Dagbon by making some areas in Dagbon no go areas for NPP through their use of some propagandist slogans like "JUSTICE FOR YAA NAA” and “WHO KILL YAA NAA” in such areas.

The NDC in their 2004 and 2008 manifestos promised to find the killers of the late Yaa Naa Yakubu Andani and deliver justice for Dagbon with the propaganda that the then former President Kufuor led government was not handling the matter well, to the extend of even insinuating that the Abudu Royal family were Pro-BUSIA DOMBO supporters and the reason why the government of the day was less eager to bring the perpetrators to book, so they promised in their 2004 and 2008 manifestos that they will bring the perpetrators to book if they give them the mandate. This manifesto promise by the NDC increased their law makers in parliament and also their votes in Dagbon in the 2004 general elections. In 2008, the NDC again made same promise that they will find and bring to book the killers of Yaa Naa. It was their main campaign message over the whole of Dagbon with their insistence that it was the NPP government that aided in the murder of the LATE Yaa Naa Yakubu Andani, and this helped them to get a mandate from the good people of Ghana to rule over them so as to help with the finding of the killers of the late King and also justice for Dagbon. But after their 8 years rule, they couldn’t even identify a single person from either the Abudu Royal family or the NPP or any other that they claimed was among the criminals who aided in that heinous crime.

PEACE IN DAGBON
After the 27th march, 2002 incident, many governments have tried to resolve the matter in Dagbon and find a lasting solution to the matter but due to their lack of boldness, the matter saw no considerable solution from 2002 to 2016.

The NPP in 2016 lead by H.E NANA ADDO DANKWA AKUFO-ADDO promised the people of Dagbon that he will ensure peace in Dagbon and also find a lasting solution to the long standing chieftaincy disputes in the area. And true to the words of President Nana Addo, after his election on 7th December, 2016 by the good people of Ghana, he has been able to fulfill his promise by allowing the Abudus to perform the funeral rites of the late Yaa Naa Mahamadu Abdulai as a Yaa Naa; which was the major cause of the conflict between the two families, allowing the Andanis to performed the funeral of the late Yaa Naa Yakubu Andani, giving the good people of Dagbon a new Yaa Naa in the person of Naa Gariba Abubakei II who is a member of the Andani royal family and also made sure that all the stake holders; both the abudus and the Andanis were fully involved in the process of the Dagbon traditional activities.

So we the Critical Thinkers International - Northern Wing are therefore calling on the NDC to also use their 2020 Manifesto to tell the good people of Dagbon and Ghana in general that there is currently peace in Dagbon and was resolved by the NPP like they did in their 2004 and 2008 manifestos by accusing the NPP of the mess there when the Dagbon crisis had not been resolved.
