General News We Won't Pay Tolls — Oyibi Drivers Protest Bad Oyibi-Dodowa Road
OCT 30, 2019 LISTEN

Drivers who ply the Oyibi-Dodowa road says they will no more pay tolls until their road which is in a deplorable state is fixed.

The drivers say they do not understand what the tolls collected regularly are used for and thus called on the authorities to use the monies judiciously.

Some of the drivers expressed their frustrations in a Citi News interview.

“We pay a lot of tolls but the road is not in a good shape. The portion close to the toll is not even in good condition. If you move forward, there is a big pothole there which is very serious. If they don't fix the road for us we will stop paying the toll. Why should we continue paying tolls? Even where you are paying the tolls, the road is not good.”

The poor nature of roads has led to the agitation among residents and road users in the country.

Some threatened that they will not vote in the 2020 elections until their roads are fixed.

In the Ga South municipality, r esidents of Broadcasting had earlier called on government to as a matter of urgency fix their bad road or they will boycott the 2020 general elections.

The road is in a deplorable state thus making mobility difficult and affecting business activities.

Other people in different places have also made a similar call to government.
