Apology Duly And Promptly Rejected

Apology Duly And Promptly Rejected
05.10.2019 LISTEN

I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that Mr. Kwame Zu, the Asante Region’s General-Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the Jerry John Rawlings-founded main opposition party in the country, meant exactly every word that he used to the effect that until former President John Dramani Mahama availed the people of Kyebi and its environs of potable (drinking) water, the people of Akyem-Abuakwa and their Paramount King, The Okyenhene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori-Panyin, II, jostled with animals for drinking water. Mr. Zu meant every word that he allegedly uttered in abusive tenor against the people of Akyem-Abuakwa, clearly because the statement was made during an anti-Akufo-Addo demonstration by the so-called Coalition for National Sovereignty, a veritable Anlo-Ewe affair deliberately calculated to destabilize the country because, by and large, the Anlo-Ewe political scam-artists and their Mahama-backed northern-descended NDC allies are hellbent on derailing the visionary and unprecedently progressive achievements of the Akufo-Addo-led government of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) – (See “We Are Sorry – Okyeman Demo Forces NDC to Apologize for Unsavory Comments” MyJoyOnline.com / Ghanaweb.com 9/23/19).

Maybe somebody more cognitively perspicuous and culturally more refined ought to remind Mr. Zu and his associates of the fact that it was the Rawlings-led junta of the erstwhile Provisional National Defense Council (PNDC) that introduced the environmentally predatory activities of Galamsey, as we presently know it, by the deliberate courting of Changfang-machine-wielding Chinese prospectors and the unhealthy but officially sanctioned influx of the latter into the country in the late 1980s and throughout the 1990s that rendered the rivers of Akyem-Abuakwa genocidally undrinkable. If, indeed, the Asante Regional Secretary of the NDC really cared to check the history books, Mr. Zu would since long have learned to his great disappointment, very likely, that long before a culturally benighted Mr. Mahama was introduced to the bright lights of Accra, from the grasslands of his Gonja enclave, it was the pristine and picture-perfect waterbodies of Akyem-Abuakwa, such as the Densu and the Birem rivers, that generously supplied potable water to the Accra metropolis, then the capital of both Ghana and the Eastern Region.

Even more significantly, what the likes of Mr. Daniel Marfo Ofori-Atta, the State Secretary of the Akyem-Abuakwa Traditional Council, ought to have done in measured response to the gross and insufferable insolence of Mr. Zu, was to have studiously borrowed a paragraph or two from the Kennedy Agyapong-authored “Kevin Taylor Playbook,” by profiling the gari-grating Trokosi Nationalist Bastard, particularly regarding the ethnicity, cultural background and class status of Mr. Zu by promptly and pointedly putting this ragamuffin hobo in his place. Resorting to the kind of emotionally desperate demonstrations, allegedly staged and/or sponsored by the Akyem-Abuakwa Traditional Council, only needlessly empowered Mr. Zu and his rat pack of NDC regional headquarters operatives.

I also doubt that a snooty bastard like Mr. Zu could actually harbor any genuine appreciation or respect for the age-old and august institution of the monarchy, for this “internal alien” comes from a culture and an ethnic group that never developed the chieftaincy institution in the dignified and respectable manner long established by the Akan majority populace of Ghana, as has been globally recognized. In other words, what we are emphatically suggesting here is that political scam-artists and robber-barons like Mr. Zu are terminally afflicted with envy for nearly everything Akan, especially since the latter are also globally renowned for our relatively unique governance skills. I mean, isn’t it clear to all that 20 years of the Trokosi Nationalist stranglehold on Ghanaian politics did absolutely nothing to significantly improve the quality of life of the overwhelming majority of all Ghanaian citizens of all ethnic and cultural backgrounds?

It would take just under a decade for Mr. John Agyekum-Kufuor to put Strongman Jerry John Rawlings to shame on the critical subject of Ghana’s economic development. Today, the Drum-Major of the Trokosi Nationalists has absolutely no credible bragging rights, other than his patently vacuous claim to some nondescript “revolutionary values,” which largely entails the brutal midnight abduction and Mafia-style assassination of Akan-descended Ghanaian High Court Judges. Today, this self-infatuated half-Scottish waif would have Ghanaians believe that our judicial system lost its once globally cherished integrity as a result of its own internal loss of moral conviction and social responsibility.

Indeed, just before this press preparation, I read somewhere that the chiefs and people of Akyem-Abuakwa had done all Ghanaians and the august institution of the monarchy proud by roundly rejecting the cynically calculated half-assed apology of the Trokosi Nation-Wrecker. Now, such noble-minded response is what it ought to be. No nonsense about some dumb purificatory rites for scoundrels who ought not to live among the civilized and the cultured.
