One person died instantly following a collision between a bullion van and a fuel tanker at Techiman in the Bono East Region.

The bullion van with registration number GV 88-13 belonging to the Bank of Ghana (BoG) was being driven by one William Asare in the company of the Currency Officer whose name was given as Frank and were heading towards Kumasi from Tamale when the incident occurred on Friday.

The fuel tanker with the registration number DP 4222-19 was heading towards Paga in the Upper East Region.

The Techiman Municipal Commander of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department of the Ghana Police Service, ASP Andrews Okonegye in an interview confirmed the death.

The Police are yet to confirm the cause of the collision.

The incident caused a heavy vehicular traffic on the Techiman – Kumasi Highway on Friday.

The security made up of the military and police were at the scene to ensure security.

The tanker driver Osman Zongo died in the process.

The driver of the bullion van William Asare and Yussif the Assistant driver of the fuel Tanker as well as one other person whose name was given as Frank Beach who were in critical condition were sent to the Techiman Holy Family Hospital and were later sent to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi for further medical care.
