Mohammed Ali Idriss, the North American NPP Branch Chairman, has on behalf of members and the Executive Committee, expressed gratitude to President Kufour, MP's, the Diaspora Vote Committee and the people of Ghana for the passage of ROPAB into law.

He said the law is a testiment to NPP government's belief in quality for Ghanaians under the constitution.

“It is a testiment to the courage, fortitude and determination of Kuffour's administration, NPP MP's and other MP's to move Ghana forward and do the right things without fear, intimidation, threat and violence”.

Disclosing this to Space FM on the line from USA, Ali Idriss said the law is also a testiment to the realization of the enormous roles of the Ghanaian in the diaspora and the need for their full involvement and participation in the development of Ghana.

The North American chairman who is a Director of Accounting at the Attorney General's Department of Washington said “we hope that all the administrative hurdles related to the law would soon be ironed out to enable the Ghanaian resident abroad to exercise their rights by registering and voting in subsequent general elections in the country”.

The NPP stalwart said “the Electoral Commission (EC) has now been given the mandate by the majority of the people of Ghana through their representatives in parliament.

“We therefore entreat the representatives of the EC to implement the law without delay and not to give in to those who are determined to destabilize our peaceful and democratically elected government and thereby endangering the country's stability”, he told Space FM.
