Obuasekrom (Ash), Feb 28, GNA - The more than 20-kilometre stretch of Dodowa-Owona feeder road linking the farming community in the Atwima-Mponua district to other peri-urban areas which got into a state of disrepair about 20 years ago has now been rehabilitated. The rehabilitation of the road has led to the easy evacuation of cocoa and other farm produce, which had hitherto been locked up in the area as a result of the bad condition of the road.
Mr Justice Korankye, assemblyman for the area who spoke to the GNA in an interview, said the repair of the road is a big relief to the people who were cut-off from other communities in the district and therefore thanked the government for the gesture. He, however, appealed to the government to provide the community, which is a buruli ulcer and guinea worm endemic area with potable water to prevent the infection of those diseases.
The assemblyman also advised the people to take advantage of the government's capitation grant and enroll their children in school and also register with the National Insurance Health Scheme, which eliminates the cash and carry system.
