Six out of the seven suspects standing trial for the gruesome murder of two police officers at Buduburam, Kasoa in the Central Region have been freed by a court in Accra.

The six, include Ibrahim Zakariah, Isaac Mensah, Obletey Commey, Victor Yire, and Fatawu Ahmed.

They obtained their freedom after the prosecution dropped the charges initially brought against them.

According to the police, the main suspect, Eric Kojo Duah, will continue to stand trial for murder and conspiracy to commit murder with three other people who are currently at large.

The prosecution further asked for Eric Duah to be remanded to help them continue with their investigations.

The freed persons were initially said to be part of the people who shot Sergeant Michael Dzamesi and Lance Corporal Mohammed Awal, both attached to the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service, at Kasoa.

The two officers were on task force duties on the Kasoa-Winneba highway on the fateful day.

The criminals, who were using an unregistered Toyota Camry vehicle and said to be driving recklessly, shot the unarmed policemen when they were chased and stopped.
