Gender Ministry Presents 206 HP laptops To Social Workers Of Leap Programme

Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Cynthia Mamle Morisson on Friday 20th September 2019, presented 206 HP laptops to its District Social Workers of the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) programme to aid their fight against poverty in the household level.

The Minister added that, the Social Service Workers are mandated per their line of duty to ensure that beneficiaries utilize the grants in productive ventures.

According to her, research has proven that the local economies of LEAP communities are turning around with the intention of the programme's cash benefits.

Receiving the 206 HP laptops, the District Social Workers thanked the Hon. Minister, Cynthia Morisson and the entire management of the Ministry for such a laudable intervention.

They stated that the laptops will enhance their work and facilitate the work of the vulnerable, marginalized and excluded in the society.

Hon. Cynthia Morrison urged the officers to use the laptops to serve the purpose for which they were given adding that there should be value for money in their daily activities and assigned duties.

According to Hon. Cynthia Morrison, LEAP is a social intervention policy aimed at eradicating poverty which is mostly associated with old age in the various communities.

"His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is committed to ensuring poverty eradication. the introduction of Free SHS, Planting for Food and Jobs, One District One Factory, Scholarship for Tertiary Education Students, reduction of electricity and water tariff among other things are all meant to improve the economic lives of the people," she stressed.

Hon. Cynthia Morrison Who is also the Member of Parliament for Agona West Constituency in the Central Region called on Ghanaians to rally behind the NPP government to enable it implement all its programmes and policies towards economic growth and development.
