Scores of youth took to street Saturday, September 21, 2019 in the predominated Zango enclave in the Asokore Mampong Municipal to educate road users on the need to reduce speed and abide by traffic regulations.

This is aimed at curbing major road accidents, a menace that is claiming hundreds of lives in the municipal.

The exercise, themed “Building a Culture of Volunteerism” was in collaboration with the municipal Urban Roads Department and was organized by the No Business As Usual Hub in commemoration of the National Volunteer Day.

The youth embarked on road-safety education and marked the faded lines of the roads from the Aboabo Post office through Sawaba to Sepe Tinpom and its environs.

“We are out for this exercise to educate road users on the need to be cautious — In ensuring a safe road usage” said Anas Muhammad the Municipal road engineer

“In ensuring an effective road usage, there is a need for collaborative efforts from all relevant stakeholders. That is why we organized the road marking and safety education to announce our efforts in this regard.” Added Shuaibu Fuseini, a youth coach at the No Business As Usual Hub

Since 2013, Ghanaians have commemorated 21 September as National Volunteer Day. Brainchild the GhanaThink Foundation, the day is geared towards encouraging Ghanaians to take up the attitude of Volunteerism.
