NDC Criminality at the EC Further Exposed

Feature Article NDC Criminality at the EC Further Exposed
SEP 15, 2019 LISTEN

We have heard this story before; and I have, personally, written about this subject at least a couple of times in the recent past. Nevertheless, it still comes as a shocker anytime the subject of the criminal negotiating of a contract under which a foreign contractor/vendor was allowed by the Charlotte Osei-headed Ghana Electoral Commission (GEC/EC) to have complete control over the country’s electoral system, thanks to the collusive and incurably depraved cant and chicanery of then-President John Dramani Mahama and the latter’s equally depraved and ever-scheming unconscionable EC appointee, to wit, Mrs. Charlotte Kesson-Smith Osei (See “We Terminated $ 5 M Contract Signed Under Charlotte Osei – EC Boss” Modernghana.com 9/13/19).

Under the aforesaid agreement, as we learned earlier on, not quite long ago, the Information Communication Technology (ICT) staff at Ghana’s Electoral Commission (EC) had absolutely no control whatsoever over the technical and operational aspects of the country’s electoral system and/or processes. In short, it was the foreign vendor, allegedly located somewhere in the Middle East, that, thanks to the scandalous and criminal shenanigans of Mr. John Mahama and Mrs. Charlotte Osei, controlled the political destiny of some 30-plus million Ghanaian citizens. In exchange for tacitly and brazenly deciding the outcome of our general elections in favor of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the foreseeable future, it well appears, the crooked duo and their cronies inside the headquarters of the EC and the erstwhile Flagstaff House paid this foreign vendor what unmistakably amounted to the payola sum of some $ 4 Million (USD) annually, in the dubious name of “Maintenance Fees,” which, as already stated, was intended to ensure that the key operatives of the presently main opposition National Democratic Congress would be running the country in perpetuity, or until savvy managerial operatives of the then main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) caught on to the shenanigans of their main political opponents. We are talking about generations here.

Which clearly explains the apparent trauma funk that the Mahama Posse has been experiencing in the apocalyptic aftermath of an incumbent President John Dramani Mahama’s massive loss in the 2016 Presidential Election, to then-Candidate Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo; and, of course, the former’s rather comical and desperate decision to inadvisably gun for the Presidency after unprecedently sinking the country to the lowest level to which it could ever descend at all levels of our national endeavor, especially in such crucial sectors as health, employment, the environment and education, and thus the country’s cultural and intellectual development. Now that the NDC’s electoral jinx appears to have been effectively dismantled, the party’s cynical and megalomaniacal operatives have fatuously resorted to the shameless pursuit of a lame propaganda strategy in which both the Jean Adukwei Mensa-chaired Electoral Commission and the Kenneth Attafuah-headed National Identification Authority (NIA), issuers of the National Identification Cards (NIC), are being virulently accused of deviously scheming to guarantee an allegedly poorly performing President Akufo-Addo an electoral victory in 2020.

Under this new propaganda strategy, the robber-baron likes of Messrs. Johnson Asiedu-Nketia (aka General Mosquito) and Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah, the former Sports Minister and the man whose unbelievably crude handling of the emoluments of the members of the Black Stars, Ghana’s senior national soccer team, resulted in the criminal loss of several millions of liquid cash, largely US dollars, to the Ghanaian taxpayer during the 2014 Brazil-hosted World Cup, hope that mounting such inexcusably porous and hopelessly self-defeating propaganda strategy would, somehow, assure the Mahama Posse of a fighting chance in the 2020 general election. As Americans are wont to say, “Fat Chance!”

You see, Dear Reader, the stark fact of the matter is that at another time in our country’s political history not very long ago, Ghanaians could very well be talking about having the likes of former President John Dramani Mahama face the death penalty by firing squad, instead of narcissistically, unconscionably and megalomaniacally and cavalierly presenting himself self-righteously as Candidate Mahama, the 2020 Presidential Nominee of the country’s main opposition National Democratic Congress. Mrs. Charlotte Osei, for her part, ought to be facing rigorous prosecution and a minimum prison sentencing to at least three terms of life imprisonment without the possibility of a presidential pardon, instead of being luridly seconded to monitor elections in Afghanistan by some cynical operatives of the United Nations (UN) and their ill-reputed domestic collaborators, largely among the ranks of the Mahama Posse, who ought to have known better.
