(Friday, September 13, 2019 Monrovia Liberia) The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection applauds the Liberia Immigration Service (LIS) for the swift arrest of three suspects (two Liberians and a Nigerian) for Human Trafficking.

According to the LIS, suspects Grace Gray, Topoe Thompson and Olurandoto Laisi allegedly recruited twenty-two Liberian Minors from Bong and Margibi Counties. Currently, the alleged traffickers are detain at a Magisterial Court in Bong County pending immediate prosecution.

Gender informs the public that all 22 Minors are in her custody and are being provided psychosocial counseling and basic necessities.

The Minister of Gender Williametta E. Saydee-Tarr makes a passionate call to everyone to serve as whistleblower in reporting trafficking against all persons including women and children to requisite authorities. Minister Tarr believes that if we begin to condemn and report these social vices at the granular level society will be better and safer for us all.

Gender reaffirms her commitment in supporting and advocating for the rights of children and others as enshrined in her mandate.
