A 35-year-old bar attendant, Salamatu Iddrisu has been remanded into police custody by a Wa circuit court for allegedly slashing the testicle of her boyfriend.

Chief Inspector Stephen Dobara told the court presided over by His Honour Alhaji Mohammed Ahmed Mustapha, that the accused, Salamatu and the complainant lived as lovers at Dukpong a suburb of Wa.

He continued that on 14th of February 2006, a misunderstanding ensued between the lovers. The following day 15th February, 2006 at about 3:00 pm, the accused came back from work and started insulting the complainant for no apparent reason. The complainant who was then relaxing warned the accused to stop the insults, as he was tired and had to rest.

Chief inspector Dobara said the accused eventually pounced on him and succeeded in cutting his testicles with a sharp object suspected to be a razor blade. Salamtu realizing that blood was oozing from the private part of the complainant took to her heels.

However, at about 12:00 midnight she returned from her hideout to the house with some two 'macho' men, packed her belongings from the complainant's room and allegedly took an amount of ¢ 370,000.00 belonging to him. The complainant having regained consciousness lodged a complaint at the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU), hitherto WAJU, and was issued a medical form to attend hospital.

The accused was subsequently arrested and detained. She denied charges during interrogation but was charged on two counts of causing harm and stealing after investigation.

Her plea was not taken and she is to re-appear on Friday 24th February 2006.
