Press Statement Issued By The Concerned Youth Of Nanung

In Support Of The Mediation Effort Of Government To End The Bimbilla Chieftaincy Impasse
07.09.2019 LISTEN
By Concerned Youth Of Nanung

We the concerned youth of Nanung wish to express our sincerest gratitude to His Excellency the president of the republic of Ghana for the bold initiative in appointing a mediator to facilitate processes leading to lasting peace in the Nanumba traditional area. We equally thank His Royal highness Togbe Sri III for accepting to carry out the arduous task of mediating to bring lasting peace to the Nanung traditional area.

It may sound quite repetitive recounting the devastative impact of the succession dispute on the people of Nanung, nonetheless the socio-economic activities in the area have over the years been badly affected with deepened poverty levels as only a consequence.

Under the prevailing circumstances, we assure the sole mediator that the indigenes of Nanung are solidly behind him and will cooperate to ensure that he succeeds in this noble course. In this regard it is only fair that the key stakeholders in the mediation process co-operate with the sole mediator to deliver his mandate.

While wishing him well in this endeavor we wish to declare unconditionally, our collective resolve to resist persons who may engage in acts likely to derail the peace process being embarked upon by the just appointed sole mediator.

We however wish to appeal to the security agencies to be extra vigilant so as to prevent persons who may have the intentions to cause disturbances in the area from doing so.
