Elections Matter And They Have Consequences

Article Elections Matter And They Have Consequences
AUG 23, 2019 LISTEN

A lot of unsuspecting Ghanaians who perhaps due to various reasons either right or wrong, got deceived prior to 2016 and they eventually voted for Akufo Addo and Bawumia (NPP) in 2016 elections are today living in great shock. Because these were not what they expected, even though there were some warnings against voting for Akufo Addo and NPP.

For some people, they thought President Mahama as the then captain 👨‍✈️ of ‘Ship Ghana’ 🇬🇭 was not fast enough to reach our desired destination due to little tidal waves (appreciable challenges) at sea, so many decided to change ship. Little did they know that the ship they transferred to was ‘on test’ (test driven), after major repairs works. Today, Ghanaians have not only noticed that they were deceived to board a leaky or broken ship but the captain and entire crew have no clue where they are heading towards. This is scary is it? Because we are at deep sea. This is simply to situation Ghanaians are in today. Only prayers can save us.

Today, the reality is that, if you were to do voice pops in the streets across the country and ask people to show by hands those who voted Npp in 2016, I am convinced beyond doubt that overwhelming majority of the people who voted npp will not be proud to say publicly today that they voted for Akufo Addo in 2016. Many are quiet because they are still struggling to come to terms with the level of disappointment Akufo Addo has brought onto them. Only few people have mustered courage to speak out about their frustrations. One may argue that it is hypocritical for those who made so much ‘shouting’ in the streets, on radio, tv and social media platforms to be quiet today over all that is going on under Akufo Addo. I will not begrudge anyone for holding such views or opinions.

But to be fair to some sections of Ghanaians, not all those who may have campaigned, supported or even voted for Akufo Addo and npp actually knew the true characters of the face of NPP then (Akufo Addo and Bawumia) before 2016.

Despite the fact that there were certain warnings against voting for Akufo Addo as President by key Npp persons, including Dr Nyaho Tamakloe who said “ Ghanaians will have a bitter taste of leadership if Akufo Addo is made a President, 2016”. Mr Maxwell Kofi Jumah also said before 2016 “Akufo Addo will be a terrible leader”. Mr Kofi Coomson formerly of Chronicle newspaper once said before 2008 elections “I cannot sleep with my two eyes closed under Akufo Addo’s presidency”. Many Ghanaians consider the admonition by Kofi Coomson a prophecy in disguise. Perhaps people may have forgotten about all those admonitions because of the deliberate misrepresentation and false image the media cabal created around Akufo Addo and Bawumia ahead of 2016 elections.

For example, it is just like deliberately presenting a scarecrow for purposes of misrepresenting the scarecrow as human. Many unsuspecting Ghanaian voters got ‘carried away’ or swindled by the flamboyant, lofty and mouthwatering manifesto promises made by the NPP ahead of 2016 elections coupled with a certain deliberate hype around the personality of Dr Bawumia as the economic messiah by the media cabal. All these contributed to the npp’s deceit in 2016.

When Akufo Addo and NPP repeatedly sunk into our ears that they had the men and women, many Ghanaians had no clue then.

Today, you now know the men and women they claimed to have had.

Some of the biased media (media cabals) if not all who propagated and trumpeted all the unrealistic promises and deliberate lies by the NPP to Ghanaians as the best alternatives that could ever happen to Ghana today don’t even see the need to use their platforms to review the most pressing issues in the country relating to all the corruption scandals, insecurity, high cost of living, massive job losses etc. Some of them have virtually turned their prime times shows that were hot shows for discussing almost everything and anything sometimes including the dress style of President Mahama today suddenly turned into ‘tooli’ tales shows or music shows.

If Akufo Addo truly care about his image or integrity, I am sure he would have voluntarily resigned by now. But hey, he won’t. His main aim as rightly captured by the leader and founder of APC Dr Hassan Ayariga was to be called President of Ghana which has happened.

Few years ago, it as not uncommon to hear Nana Akufo Addo tout himself as an incorruptible leader, let me ask a question, when was the last time you heard him say that he is incorruptible since 7 January 2017? He cannot, his incorruptibility mantra disappeared right from the point of his inaugural speech. I don’t need to remind you.

As someone whose hobby now is renaming, I won’t be surprised if he renames himself as the Ghana’s Mobutu Sese Seko before his retirement in 2020.

What we hear and see on daily basis under Akufo Addo is total ‘defilement’ of the public purse, it has long graduated from ‘raping’ the public purse since 2017.

In fact, God always Has a way of revealing the inner or inward (true ) character of people who are wolves in sheep’s skins. Akufo Addo would have been seen as a ‘SAINT’ today if had lost 2016 elections and JM perhaps would have been called the worst ‘devil’ God ever created.

Indeed, as JM said in Tamale in 2017, God did not test him with the 2016 defeat for nothing. God Wants Ghanaians to appreciate why Akufo Addo was never elected as a president in 2008 and 2012.

“Indeed Allah is all Knowing and Acquainted” [Surah Al-Hujurat 49:13].

“Indeed God knows us far better than we know ourselves” [Romans 8:27]

It’s not too late to salvage our dear country. If you’re a potential voter in Ghana and you still don’t know which way to go, I recommend to you HE John Dramani Mahama as the best choice in 2020. If you are still doubtful I recommend to you to sincerely pray for God’s guidance and direction ahead of 2020 polls.

Naturally there shouldn’t have been a campaign ahead of 2020 elections because the choice is obvious. But as humans as we are, we just need to keep reminding one another because forgetfulness that we all have a duty to salvage our mother Ghana. Sadly, today corruption has become synonymous with governance courtesy Nana Akufo Addo and NPP.

I will end this short piece with a quote from then candidate Nana Akufo Addo “Elections matter. They have consequences. This year’s (2016) election, obviously has great consequences” 6th December 2016.

I am sure you and I can now relate better with the consequences Nana Akufo Addo talked about in the above quote from his tweet which is public knowledge.

Go4JM2020, the belt alternative!
God bless Ghana.
