Wasa Akropong (W/R), Feb. 15, GNA - The Bogoso Gold Limited (BGL) has acquired concession at Mampoma and Pampe in the Wassa Amenfi East District to prospect for gold.
Ms Doris Oduro, the District Chief Executive, announced at the third ordinary session of the District Assembly at Wasa Akropong. She said the district stands to gain from the venture, when the company goes into full operation.
Ms Oduro said the possibility of discovering more gold deposits and other minerals in the district are high. She said the exploration and mining of the Opon Manse iron ore deposits was under consideration.
Ms Oduro advised communities against making unreasonable demands to the BGL in the initial stages, because this would deter the investors. She said the district assembly has identified a number of tourist sites but huge capital was required for their development. The DCE said a brochure on the district tourism potential would be prepared.
She announced that the Ministry of Communication in collaboration with Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence was ready to equip the district ICT centre at Wasa Akropong.
