General News Kumasi: Goldsmith Shot In Critical Condition
AUG 22, 2019 LISTEN

One person is said to be in critical condition after he was allegedly shot at Dr. Mensah, a suburb of Kumasi following a misunderstanding between two goldsmiths on Wednesday evening.

The suspect, Nana Asamoah, is said to have fired three shots during the disagreement with the injured victim, Nana Brentuo.

The victim was rushed to the Manhyia District Hospital and subsequently referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

According to the victim’s apprentice, Evans Kwesi Dabanka, the disagreement started after the suspect's customer sent his gold to the victim’s shop to be worked on.

He narrated; “when he missed the first shot, our boss tried to escape but Nana Asamoah shot again. My boss picked up a chair and threw it Nana Asamoah in defence. I could tell that he did so out of fear and frustration. When my boss tried to get out, Nana Asomah shot at him again for the third time. Luckily, the shot hit the herm of his used clothing which made him fall. If it hadn’t been the fall, my boss will have been shot in the head.”

“I can’t really tell the reason for the disagreement but my boss is in a critical condition. He is in serious pain and if care is not taken, he may lose his life”, he added.

Meanwhile, Police at the Manhyia Divisional Command say, they have begun an investigation into the matter.
