Gory details are emerging from the Agogo Collins Secondary Commercial College murder case, with a watchman at the school owning up that he had been involved in raping the victim, killing her, removing her breast and part of her sex organ with a knife before dumping her body in a bush near the school.

After making the confession, the suspect, Abu Doare Ziwore, 38, was said to have attempted committing suicide at the Konongo Police Station where he is being held but he was prevented from carrying out his mission by vigilant officers on duty. He is on remand for allegedly killing Ruth Odame, a 20-year-old third-year student of the college.

The Ashanti regional police commander, ACP Frank Adu Poku, who briefed the Daily Graphic on the incident said in Ziwore's attempt to commit suicide, he stood on a bucket, tied one end of his shirt around his neck and tied the other end to the ceiling before jumping off the bucket. But an unusual noise attracted the policeman on duty who rushed into the cells. He said the policeman found Ziwore, a native of Tongo in the Upper, writhing in pain so they quickly untied the shirt from the ceiling from where Ziwore dropped down unconscious.

They then rushed him to the Agogo Presbyterian Hospital where he was revived. He is now being held under 24 hour police guard.

The suspect was arrested on February 6, 2006 and remanded in custody in Konongo where he was alleged to have confessed his crime.

ACP Adu Poku said initial police investigations indicated that the victim and other colleague were said to be resting in their dormitory during prep time on February 2, 2006.

He said one of the teachers of the school who chanced into the dormitory advised them to go and study in the classroom but they rather ran into the bush close to the school. He said it was at that point that Ziwore, who had been working in the school as a watchman for the past eight years, traced the victim into the bush, allegedly pounced on her at knife point and raped her. Mr. Adu Poku said after the act, the suspect removed one of the victim's breasts and part of her private parts and dumped the body in the bush. Earlier
