The Newly Elected National Executives of the Graduate Students Association of Ghana (GRASAG National) have today 12th August 12, 2019 joined many voices across the globe including the UN Secretary-General António Guterres to celebrate young people, youth-led organizations, Governments and others who are working to transform education and uplifting young people everywhere.

12 August was first designated International Youth Day by the UN General Assembly in 1999, and serves as an annual celebration of the role of young women and men as essential partners in change, and an opportunity to raise awareness of challenges and problems facing the world’s youth.

This year’s theme “Transforming education” highlights efforts to make education more inclusive and accessible for all youth, including efforts by youth themselves.

GRASAG believes that Education cannot be transformed in the face of many social vices which involve the youth. “We are therefore urging the youth around the globe to stay away from such vices that threaten education for all.”

In Ghana, GRASAG is calling on the government to put necessary measures in place to help transform education from its current stage to a better point.

“The continued unexplained delay of Graduate Students’ Bursaries and its associated bottle necks cannot ‘transform education’. The many challenges associated with the Free SHS policy and several other challenges such as high school fees at the tertiary level all need urgent attention if we really need to transform education.”

GRASAG again does not see how the penchant for the changing of names of existing Universities help to transform education.

GRASAG is therefore calling on the government to take a second look at all these issues as we help to transform education for the ultimate benefit of the Ghanaian youth.

GRASAG wishes all the youth in Ghana well and also use this occasion to wish all Ghanaians a Happy Holiday.

GRASAG urges Ghanaians especially the youth across the country to stay out of trouble.
