The former NDC Member of Parliament of WassaAmenfi West Constituency in the Western Region of Ghana and currently the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Computer, Mr Kofi Asante has filled his nomination to contest the primary of the New Patriotic Party which is slated for the month of September.
Mr Kofi Asante was the National Democratic Party Member of Parliament of WassaAmenfi West Constituency from 2001 to 2003 when he resigned from the Party that automatically led to his exit from Parliament house and subsequently ceased to be a Member of ECOWAS Parliament.
Mr Kofi Asante defected to the New Patriotic Party and since then has become a staunch Member of the Party which qualifies him to contest on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party in any General Elections..
Mr Kofi Asante will become the first Ghanaian in the fourth Republic of Ghana to win a Parliamentary seat with two rival Political Parties in Ghana in the same Constituency.
A mammoth picnic began from the Melody hotel to the Party"s office in Asankrangwa in the WassaAmenfi West Constituency with almost all the delegates present to throw their unflinching support to him and it took almost three hours for the ecstatic crowd to move from the hotel to the Party’s Office due to the traffic jam which is unusual in Asankrangwa township and many traders left their wares to catch a glimpse of the man who is widely tip to win the primary with a huge percentage gap.
Honourable Kofi Asante and the leadership of *friends of Kofi Asante led by a vibrant youths leaders called Lord and "Kwame Ampong assisted him to present his completed nomination forms and a banker's draft with a face value of twenty thousand Ghana Cedis paid by the FRIENDS of KOFI ASANTE to a three-man Elections Committee who after going through the documents confirmed him to take part in the vetting which is coming up this month of August.
After the confirmation was announced to the massive crowd who were waiting outside the Party's Office, the supporters go gay with a huge jubilation dancing to a special lyrics composed by FRIENDS OF KOFI ASANTE throughout the night with pop and pageantry and occasionally dance to a brass band from FRIENDS OF KOFI ASANTE.
In an interview with a South Africa - based online news portal thepressradio.com journalist Miss, Joy Beauty Williams, Honourable Kofi Asante was grateful to the massive crowd and assured them that if given the nod he will recapture the sear he once held from the NDC with ease since the electorates know what he did as the District Chief Executive and a Parliamentarian.
Mr Kofi Asante enumerated his developmental plans for the Constituency in a likely event that he wins the sear in the name of the good Lord especially modernizing agriculture which is the main occupation in the Constituency and also lobby for the rehabilitation of the deplorable roads in the Constituency.
