Accra, Feb. 10, GNA - The Consular Section of the United States Embassy said on Friday that with immediate effect, it will only admit visa applicants with confirmed appointments, American citizens or other customers applying for Citizen Services due to space constraints.

A statement from the Embassy explained that the decision was taken because of space constraints and other security considerations.

The statement said American citizens, who accompanied visa applicant would not be permitted entry unless they had been requested to do so in writing by Consular officials.

The statement said, however, that exceptions would be granted to children below 18 years of age, who may be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Only one guardian or parent would be allowed to accompany children who came from the same family.

Nursing infants may also accompany their mothers but other children without appointments would not be admitted.

Additionally, it said physically incapacitated applicants may be accompanied by one assistant, adding that Embassy interpreters would be provided to those who did not speak English as family members would not be admitted for interpretation purposes.
