Talensi/Nabdam District spends over 1.3 billion on projects

Tongo (U/E), Feb 9, GNA- The newly created Talensi/Nabdam District Assembly in the Upper East Region, has since its establishment spent over 1.3 Billion cedis on projects in three communities in the area. The projects included three six-classroom blocks with offices, stores, four-seater KVIPs and urinals for the Baare, Awaradone and Yakote communities.

Mr Sebastian Bisnab Tibil, District Chief Executive (DCE), announced these on Wednesday at Tong.

He was presenting 73 packets of roofing sheets estimated to cost over 74 Million Cedis to 86 facilitators of the Botataba-Nahira-Taaba Development Union (BONATADU), a non-governmental organisation (NGO). The DCE commended the District-wide Assistance Project (DWAP), an NGO working in the Region, for construction an office, store, urinal and KVIP toilet at a total cost of 700 Million Cedis for Gorogo Primary School in the district.

Mr Tibil said the Assembly had spent over 168 Million Cedis on 149 students pursing various courses at the Senior Secondary School level and tertiary institutions.

He advised parents to send their children to school to enable them to benefit from the Assembly's educational programmes.

Mr. Joseph Zahaga, Programme Manager of BONATADU, thanked the DCE for contributing to the development of the district, and appealed to him to support the facilitators in the efforts at reducing poverty in the area.
