The District Chief Executive for the Kwahu Afram Plains North District, Hon Samuel Kena has presented a set of school furniture to the District office of the Ghana Education Service at Donkorkrom.

Making the presentation, Hon Kena said the practice where buildings are commissioned before furniture are procured are a thing of the past and that the government would ensure that completed buildings are equipped with furniture before commissioning.

The furniture comprising 200 mono desks, 70 teacher chairs, 14, teacher tables and 6 library tables would be distributed to some selected schools in dire need of furniture in the district, some of which were nearing completion.

Mr Kena, an entrepreneur in the wood industry as well, said the wood used was of high quality and therefore entreated teachers to help maintain them well to last long.

The funding came from the District’s share of the District Development Fund (DDF). Mr Kena intimated that the Assembly will continue to support GES to help raise the standard of education in the District as it was the vision of the Assembly to make quality education accessible to all.

In accepting the furniture, the Acting District Director of Education for Kwahu Afram Plains North District, Mrs. Ivy Asantewaa Owusu expressed her appreciation for the gesture. She said the furniture would go a long way to promote teaching and learning in the District as some schools lack basic logistics like furniture and therefore the gesture shall motivate them to give their all as the Assembly equally intend supporting the office and making teaching attractive in the District.
