RE: Demo Looms At Customs Over Damoah's Appointment

Rejoinder RE: Demo Looms At Customs Over Damoah's Appointment
JUN 5, 2019 LISTEN

The Customs Staff Association (CSA) has taken note of a publication on modemghana.com and other social media platforms with the above caption by Kofi Safo Antwi & Dominic Jale.

The Association wishes to dissociate itself from the said publication and further wish to state as follows;

I. That, whilst it is the wish of the Association like any other security service to have its leadership appointed from among its rank and file, we equally acknowledge the power of the appointing authority to appoint any other person of its choice in line with the vision of the government.

2. That, as a disciplined security service, at no time has the Association planned any demonstration or a sit-down strike as was alleged in the said publication.

3. The Association therefore welcomes the appointment of Col. Kwadwo Damoah (Rtd) as the Ag. Commissioner for the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority and assures him and the appointing authority of our support towards the attainment of the core mandate of the Division.

All staff and the general public are entreated to disregard the publication and to treat it with the contempt it deserves.

Signed,
For and on behalf of the Customs Staff Association
