Hello everyone! Welcome to The Sound Kitchen weekly podcast, published every Saturday. You'll hear the winner's names announced and the week's quiz question, along with all the other ingredients you've grown accustomed to: your letters and essays, “On This Day”, quirky facts and news, interviews, and great music … so be sure and listen every week.

I want to hear from you about your little moments of joy. Small, daily things: a beautiful sunset, a baby's laugh. Let's add that as a very nice ingredient to our communal cooking – let's share the joy! In these crazy times, we all need it … write to me at [email protected].fr

For our DX enthusiast and shortwave listener friends: I am sad to announce we no longer have a shortwave frequency; we have severe budget constraints which no longer permit us to broadcast via shortwave.

But you can still hear us on World Radio Network. As you know, we now broadcast only 1 hour per day, Monday – Friday, from 14:00 to 15:00 UTC/GMT.

For North America: WRN broadcasts the quotidian RFI English programme three times a day from Monday to Friday, from 06:00 to 06:59, from 10:00 to 10:59 and from 16:00 to 16h59 UTC/GMT.

This week's quiz: On 20 April, I asked you a question about the Paris Marathon, which had taken place on 14 April. I asked you to send in the names of the winners – both in the women's and the men's race – as well as their timings and their nationalities.

The answer is: For the women: Gelete Burka, from Ethiopia. Burka ran the marathon in 2:22:48. For the men, it was Burka's countryman Abrha Milaw, who finished in 2:07:05. Bravo Ethiopia!

France didn't do too badly, either: our star woman runner, Clemence Calvin, broke the French women's record. Calvin came in fourth, at 2:24:41.

The marathon route runs right in front of my building, and I was down there to watch those faster-than-lightening athletes pass by. I put a video of the women on the Sound Kitchen and RFI English FaceBook pages if you want to see them up close. It was beautiful.

The winners this week are: Shahzad Shabbir, the president of the Pak France International Listeners Club in Sahiwal District, Pakistan; Ferhat Bezazel, the president of the RFI Butterflies Club Ain Kechera in West Skikda, Algeria; Jewel Ahmed from Sirajganj, Bangladesh; Tahsin Ara Khanam from Naogaon, Bangladesh and RFI Listeners Club member Kamini Khatoon from Odisha, India.

Congratulations winners!

Here's the music you heard on this week's program: “Jo'berg Jive” by Xian Vassie; Mozart's “Rondo à la Turk” performed by Fazil Say; the theme from the film Chariots of Fire by Vangelis; “The Flight of the Bumblebee” by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov; Isham Jones and Gus Kahn: "I'll See You in My Dreams" performed by Bucky Pizzarelli and Pearl Django, and "Same Ground", written and performed by Kitchie Nadal.
