Party sympathisers advised to register

Ejuratia (Ash), Jan 16, GNA - A New Patriotic Party (NPP) member has appealed to sympathisers of political parties to register with the parties to qualify them as members.

Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, the Chairman of the Kwabre-West Constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), said this was important since mere following and shouting of slogans and the wearing of party "T" shirts alone did not qualify one to be a member of any party unless such a fellow was duly registered.

He said registration should not be done in isolation but should be backed up by regular payment of monthly and other dues. Odeneho Appiah said this at separate interactions at Ejuratia, Nan Tan and Daboya on Sunday with a section of the Kwabre-West NPP Constituency members at the start of a tour of the constituency by the newly elected executives of the party.

The tour is designed to formally introduce the Kwabre-West NPP executives to opinion leaders and constituents of the area and to find out problems affecting the party in the area. He described as misleading the notion in certain circles that the party was a "Goldmine" and once people assume leadership roles they were there to amass wealth.

Odeneho Appiah said the party had no other source of funding except through dues, for that matter it was important that members attached greater priority to not only regular payments of their dues but also making charitable donations to the party. Nana Gyamfi Ampong, chief of Nan Tan and Nana Kwabena Agyapong, Krontihene of Ejuratia, pledged their support for the government in its bid to bring development to the area.
