Mankranso Forestry Commission in the Ahafo Ano South-West District of the Ashanti region has arrested four illegal miners who invaded the Desiri forest reserve in the Asutifi South District of the Ahafo region on Monday, 13 May 2019.

The illegal miners were arrested while mining in the Desiri Forest Reserve in the Asutifi South District of the Ahafo region under the Mankranso Forest District.

The suspects; Nkoah Michael, 34; Agyemang Duah, 40; Simon Amponsah, 31; and Akwasi Agyare 40 were sent to the Tepa Circuit Court yesterday, 14 May 2019.

His Lordship Johnson Abbey has put them on remand in prison custody till 28 May 2019, where they will reappear in court.

However District Forestry Manager at Mankraso, Godwin Agyemang hailed the efforts of the Rapid Response Team and forest guard for the timely arrest and assured that his outfit will continually torment these perpetrators who are burnt engaging in such unlaw activities for their selfish gains.
