Jasikan Chiefs Hail Akufo-Addo As 'Political Midwife'

The Paramount Chief of the Jasikan Traditional Area, Nana Abram Akpanja VI, has described President Akufo-Addo as, political midwifery that oversaw the safe and successful delivery of the Oti Region.

According to the Chief, the of Jasikan could never find the appropriate words to convey their joy, appreciation and gratitude to the President for making the half-a-century old dream of the people, including their ancestors, come true.

The Jasikan Chief made the comment on Tuesday May 14, 2019, when President Nana Akufo-Addo, visited his palace, as part of his 6-day tour of the Oti, North East and Savannah Regions.

The three regions were part of the new regions recently created by the government has helped in speed up development in the country.

While expressing his gratitude to the President, Nana Abram Akpanja VI, said the Ghanaian people, and, indeed, the people of Jasikan are delighted with the creation of the Oti region which separated them from the Volta Region.

He noted that with the demand for the Oti region beginning in 1954, before Ghana gained independence, Buem, Biakoye, Sall, Jasikan, would forever be grateful to the President and his government for demonstrating boldness and commitment to principle.

The Chief added that, notwithstanding the strong needless opposition to the creation of the Oti region by people who had always wished that they remained relatively less developed for reasons best known to them.

Nana Abram Akpanja VI said, notwithstanding their disappointment at not having the regional capital of Oti sited in Jasikan, they are delighted by the commitment expressed by the President to ensure an even spread of developmental infrastructure in the region.

He however appealed to President Akufo-Addo to consider locating the soon-to-be constructed Oti Regional hospital at Worawora, and a University of ICT and Urban Planning at Jasikan, explaining that it would go a long way to compensate for the leadership role, efforts and expectations the people had invested towards the creation of the Oti Region.

The paramount Chief also applauded the President for the numerous achievements of the government within a record period of two years of being in office.

He indicated that the agricultural and services sectors have recorded over 100% growth from what Nana Akufo Addo government inherited, adding that the policies introduced have resulted in a decline in interest rate, thus creating a better climate for business and growth.
