Government is calling for civil disobedience - Hon. Sylvester Adinam Mensah

The former flagbearer aspirant of the opposition NDC party Hon. Sylvester Mensah who visited Radio Gold few minutes after its closure to appraise himself of happenings and as well interact with staff and sympathizers of the station is of the view that the government of the day is obviously calling for public disorder.

In an interview with the media representatives present at the premises, Hon. Sly Mensah recounted the peaceful atmosphere Ghana has enjoyed over the years and how far we have come as Ghanaians only to arrive at this rather shameful destination of eliciting civil disorder

He described the closure of the two pro-NDC media houses as an interesting coincidence and an attempt to cause civil disobedience.

"It is an interesting coincidence, we have enjoyed some peace in this country, Ghana has come very far and it is quite obvious that government is calling for civil disobedience. It is quite obvious that government is calling for some level of disorder in this country but I don't think any government can thrive under such circumstances, this country needs peace and progress."

Using the experience of the violent nature of the recent Awayaso West Wuogon by-election, he cautioned that if this is just the beginning of what to expect as we move towards 2020 then the NDC would have brace itself up for the worse

He registered his disappointment about recent events left unattended to and held the view that this is the manifestation of what is in stock for politics in this country and that this is not the Ghana we want to live in. This is not the politics anyone should be proud of.

He maintained that it is the duty of every Ghanaian to ensure that every government irrespective of its political lineage succeeds.

"Every member of a political party whether in government or opposition must pray that the government in power succeeds. It is important that every government in power succeeds. If you are in opposition the expectation is that, yes, you pray that the government succeeds but you put up a superior program that is higher and can provide accelerated development faster and better than that of the incumbent and that should be the basis for snatching political power from your opponent. This is the kind of politics we expect into the future and not this ancient type of backward politics"
