The Headquarters of the opposition National Democratic Congress is currently boiling as anger is highly flaming over the latest invitation of its National Chairman Ofosu Ampofo by the criminal investigations department (CID) of the Ghana police service.
This is the fourth time that Mr Ofosu Ampofo is been grilled by operatives of the police service in connection with a leaked tape.
In the alleged leaked tape, Mr Ampofo is heard nursing plans with other party executives to kidnap people sympathetic to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) as well as orchestrate market fires across the country, to create insecurity in the country.
Mr Samuel Ofosu Ampofo in a meeting with the CID at its headquarters denied ownership of the said tape. He was subsequently charged but was granted bail by an Accra high court.
An invitation extended to Mr Ampofo by the CID signed by madam Tiwa Addo stated that Mr Ampofo's invitation became necessary after some suspects of recent market fires mentioned his name as the one behind their actions.
Mr Ampofo's first meeting with the CID, saw hundreds of party supporters and bigwigs storming the premises of the CID headquarters to galvanized support for their party's Chairman.
Today's encounter attracted huge number of party men and women from Accra as well as Kumasi per information reaching this portal.
Flagbearer of the party, John Mahama yesterday lashed out at the CID boss, madam Tiwa Addo for what he described as baseless and unwarranted invitation.
He equally warned the NPP to be careful not to set a precedent in Ghanaian politics.
Meanwhile, this portal can report that most NDC members trooped to the party headquarters ahead of Mr Ampofo's departure to the CID headquarters at 2pm today.
